Interpretation of Frequency Response Analysis for Fault Detection in Power Transformers

نویسندگان

چکیده

Frequency response analysis (FRA) is a method of monitoring power transformer’s mechanical integrity. However, identifying the type fault and its severity by comparing measured responses still challenging mostly relies on personnel expertise. This paper taking one step forward to standardize FRA interpretation process proposing guidelines based various international standards case studies. In this study, signature divided into three regions: low-, mid- high-frequency regions. The deviation from fingerprint for faults classified small, large, no variations, calculation correlation coefficient. proposed are developed frequency regions, level variation represented using simple arrow simplify process. A study conducted three-phase 11/0.433 kV, 500 kVA distribution transformer with short circuit winding validate guidelines.

Modeling the Frequency Response Movements in Power Transformers for Predicting Purposes

Power transformers are key components in electrical power supplies and their failure could cause severe consequences on continuity of service and also generates substantial costs. Identifying problems at an early stage, before catastrophic failure occurs, is a great benefit for reliable operation of power transformers. Frequency Response Analysis (FRA) is a new, well-known and powerful diagnost...

Using the Frequency Response Analysis (FRA) In Transformers Internal Fault Detection

This paper deals with diagnostic methods of the internal faults in power transformers. The diagnostic process uses some of the current diagnosis methods (e.g. oil test, dissolved gases analysis (DGA), partial discharge (PD), etc.) to determine the condition of the transformer. In this process, the most frequent diagnostic methods were listed and applied practically to be compared. A conventiona...

Transformer Fault Detection Using Frequency Response Analysis

Power transformers prove to be a vital element or tool in electrical power supply and transmission system. They are capital intensive units and need to be monitored for faults. Faults in transformers leading to their failure are repugnant. Thus, there is a need to detect such faults at an initial level. This paper aims to detect, diagnose the nature and cause of mechanical faults, their identit...
